Busy Saturday

My goodness today was a whirwind kind of day but we had so much fun and enjoyed every moment of it! Saturday morning we got up, got Kaylee picked up from the slumber party she went too and got ready for our family photo shoot with my dear friend Julie Armstrong Smith, you can find her on Facebook under Relieve Photography.  She does such a good job and I love her to pieces!!  She did send me a sneak peek, and I know if you are on FB you have already seen these but I do have other family members not on FB so enjoy the pics again.

Thanks again Julie...I LOVE THEM and I can not wait to see the rest!!

As soon as we were done we had about ten minutes to get to an awesome pirate birthday party for a really special four year old, Slayden.  He is Kara Brooke's teacher's son!  Again it was a pirate theme and they out did themselves....
They made a ship, they walked the plank, had their face painted and tattoos put on, threw cannon balls, busted a candy filled shark and went on a treasure hunt.  The invitations were adorable too, it told the kids to come dressed as pirates or ship mates.

Here are my two pirates!

Kaylee's shirt has sculls and cross bones on it, she didn't really want to "dress up" as a pirate.  Ummm...I think she is growing up too fast!

Captain Slayden walking the plank!

Kaylee walking the plank.

My sweet pirate girl!

Tossing the "cannon balls"!

Captan Slayden has his own chicken coop and while he was waiting for the other pirates to walk the plank, he went and caught a chicken and was carrying it around like it was a little puppy or something.  Too funny, we laughed at that kid for the longest time!

Here is the awesome pirate ship that Joy {Slayden's mom} and her Dad {Pa Alton, as KB says} built for the kids to play on.  It was perfect, they did an amazing job with it.  Joy has the best imagination ever and can do anything!  I'm so thankful for her and her mother, they have been so good with KB.

Here is were X marked the spot at the end of the treasure hunt.  Mrs. Joy even had to dig it up, all the kids are so excited and so amazed!

They got the treasure box up and unlocked it to find....

...lots of gold, jewelry and money!  Captain Slayden so graciously shared his treasure with all of the other pirates and shipmates.

Kara Brooke so patiently waiting for her turn to dig through the treasure box!

KB getting a good lick on the candy filled shark!

Kara Brooke and her BFF Kaegan counting their "dollars" and checking out the loot!

Kaylee busted it and candy went fling out!!

Happy Birthday Slayden!

Thanks Mince family for a great party!  We enjoyed our selves and we love you guys!!!

As soon as the party ended we headed to Unionville for a benefit auction that my cousin was heading up.  Once again we got to see a lot of family and old friends from my high school days.  They girls were getting tired, KB had NO nap all day but was the best little thing, so we headed home for he evening!
It was a fabulous day spent with lots of family and friends, just the way we like it!!!

Gearing up for another busy week, high school basketball starts this week and of course we have several other things planned.  Our Thanksgiving family time starts this weekend too, so that is something to definitely look forward to!

Alumni basketball game 2010

Tonight was our Alumni basketball game at my old high school and let me just say.....WOW, everything does change after 30!!!  hahaha!  We did have a great time and it was so good to see some of my old "basketball sisters"!  I haven't played in four years and since Kara Brooke came along, man my body was hurting.  Oh well...it was worth it.  I did however have a fan club there, thanks friends for coming, I hope you enjoyed yourselves.

This is the group of girls I graduated with in 1997.  It is so funny how we very rarely see each other but when we get together, especially in the gym, its like we were just together.  I guess spending so much time in the gym together for at least six years of our young lives makes it that way!
And let me just add we did win the district championship our senior year, something that had not been done since the 1940's!!  We were very proud!

Here are a few more of the girls that played tonight, they are the girls of 1994, except for one.  These girls were such great mentors to all of us and I am very thankfully for the time we all spent together!!

And of course Kara Brooke!!  Kaylee had already left to go to a birthday party!

Weekend!

Another weekend has come and go and here we are almost 8 weeks away from Christmas!!  Oh my..... have you started shopping, planning or even decorating??  I have started my shopping and I have started planning, making list and have ideas in my head but no decorating yet for me.  We always try to do that the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Speaking of Thanksgiving...ohhh I'm so excited...I just LOVE Thanksgiving!!  Time together, the smells, football with family and of course the food....

Of course we had another busy weekend.  Saturday morning we had an appointment to get family pictures made but we ended up canceling because it was going to be so cold and we just didn't think that red nose's, frozen snot and watering eyes would be Christmas card worthy.  So we will try to do them next Saturday instead.  Saturday afternoon Kaylee and I headed to the high school to watch the Eaglette alumni basketball games.  It was a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls club and I think they did real well.  My dear friend has been named the new head coach of the Eagettes and of course we are extremely excited about that so we were not only there for the fundraiser but I promised her we would be there to support her too.  We sat with her family who just happens to my dentist and we had a great time!  Speaking of alumni ball games....I will be playing this coming Friday night at my high school!  The last time they did it I was preggo with Kara Brooke and did not get to play.  I was still there to support my girls though!!!  You all know me and know I LOVE some basketball and it is that time of year!!  So save me a seat Mrs. Zena, we will be seeing you real soon!!!  ;)

They next few pictures are of Kara Brooke pretending to be "Ho, Ho"

And here she is with potato chips and some sour cream....GROSS!!!!  I have no idea why or how she started this but whatever you like KB is fine with me!!

Kaylee hanging out on the couch playing games!

Sunday the girls, Nana and I headed to Murfreesboro to do a little shopping.  We had a great time, actually we did more looking and "put that on my list" than we did buying.  There is nothing like spending time with my two girls and my Momma!  She is so good to our girls and they love her to pieces.   Thank you Nana for being so great to all of us...you are the best!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Kris bought us a new (well new to us} video camera off of Craig's List!!  It is perfect and in great used condition and will be well worth the money.  I haven't used it yet but I will be real soon.  I am ashamed to say I have no video footage of KB, except for on my cell phone.  And I have not taken any of Kaylee in probably four or five years!  SAD I know...but that is about to change, I will be videoing everything as soon as I learn this camera!!!
Have a great week!!

Halloween weekend 2010

Our Halloween weekend was fabulous!  For the girls it started Thursday night as we prepared for school parties.  I had to make 2 dozen cookies for Kaylee's class and 2 dozen pigs in a blanket for Kara Brooke's preschool.  Not to mention the pasta salad I had to carry to work for my boss' birthday lunch.  Also I had to make 12 treat bags for Kara Brooke to give out.  Needless to say it was a busy evening.

Here are the bags I fixed for KB's group, I have been fixing these little pumpkin bags for a long time now and they are always so cute!

Friday, Kris was out of town until real late that evening so the girls and I had dinner with my parents at El Mexico and then we just hung out at home going through all of the candy and treats they got at their parties!
Saturday morning I had to work, as soon as I got off we {Nana included} loaded up and headed to downtown Franklin to the pumpkin festival.  It was so packed we couldn't even find a place to park that we would not have to walk a mile just to get there.  So we all decided to head down to Cool Springs instead.  They had all kinds of stuff going on at the mall and the girls really enjoyed themselves.  They were having a mall wide trick or treating and we saw some of the cutest costumes ever!

The girls got in the photo booth and had a big time!!  ha!

Then they got on the carousal, first KB just wanted to sit on the bench then she decided during the ride she wanted on a horse.  She really has the best big sister a girl could want!!

At one of the candy stores they were handing out black and orange carmel corn to all of the kiddos so as we were headed back to Murfreesboro, Kara Brooke decided to try some of it.  She didn't like the taste but loved how she could rub it on like "whipestick"!

We finished the evening up in the 'Boro at Steak n Shake for dinner and then a "just to look and pick out some stuff" trip to Toys R Us.  And by the way I LOVE the new Toys R Us!!!

Sunday we just hung out at the house until time to go trick or treating!  We only hit up the three grandparents houses and then headed to BawBaw & Sam Sam's for dinner and go around their neighborhood with our besties the Pinkston's!!

Meet our Vampire...Kaylee!  This was the first year we have ever let her be something like this but with all of the Vampire Diaries, Twilight and etc. this is what she choose and we obliged.  I thought she looked so grown up.  But a beautiful vampire, never the less!!

And then we had Minnie Mouse aka KB!  Isn't she just the cutest little thing?!?  And what about that big smile?? If you don't know the story about KB and pictures....normally she WILL NOT smile for the camera, she will look at it but WILL not smile!!!  So I was VERY excited when I got this one.  I mean I may or may not have had to bribe her with no candy or not going trick or treating... but I got a beautiful picture!

Not real sure what the vampriess is doing here but ooookkk.....

Check out Minnie Mouse's tail.  As Ethan said, "Awww that's so cute....it looks like it is really supposed to be there!"  Best compliment of the night Ethan....that is SOOOO the look we was going for!!!  ha!!

The Adams' family!!

Hope you guys had an awesome weekend too!  I'm so thankful for time spent with family and friends...thats what I love about the weekends!!!
Next weekend we are having family pictures made, hope it is not too cold!
