Another Broken Bone

Kaylee has now broken TWO bones within a year!!! Friday at school she jumped off of a piece of playground equipment, went to see the school nurse and she thought it was just sprained. There was no swelling, discoloration and had great circulation. Saturday morning we had to be on the soccer field at 7:30am for a single elimination tournament which means if we win we keep playing. Of course ADAMS LAWN SERVICE U8 girls won all day long and ended up in the championship game on Sunday afternoon. Kaylee played three games before we could leave to get an x-ray. The Dr. that looked at it didn't think it was broke either until he got the x-rays back. He could not believe that she had not complained anymore than she did. So today when went to her orthopedic Dr., (pretty sad at six years old and you already have a bone Dr.)Dr. Kyle Joyner. He walks in and says, "you again Ms. Kaylee"? (That is pretty sad too) He did confirm that it was broke above the growth plate and put her in a PINK cast for six weeks. While we where waiting Kaylee was trying to decide what color cast she would get this time, since she has already had a hot pink one and a purple one. So this time she went with light pink with sparkles. The worse part for Kaylee is Dr. Joyner told her NO soccer for three weeks, that liked to have killed her! Please keep her in your prayers in hopes that it heals quickly. What a tuff little gril!!!!

High School Musical 2

On Friday we were invited to a High School Musical 2 world premier party at Kaylee's friend Kayden Fletcher's house. For those who do not know, High School Musical is a movie made by Disney and this was the sequel that all little girl's have been counting down the days until its debut. We had such a good time at the Fletcher's house, the night began with a little High School Musical and Hannah Montana karaoke and all kinds of snacks, complete with real movie popcorn boxes, cookies, chips and even a High School Musical cake. The girls (& one little boy) really enjoyed the movie and spending time together. I think all the Mom's enjoyed their selves too! Thanks again to Wendy and Kayden for inviting us!

First day of kindergarten

We made it!!!! Kaylee did great and I was....well....ok so I cried all the way to work. She woke up this morning and was ready to go. At ten after 7:00 she was wondering why we still haven't left yet, I had to remind her that she didn't have to be a school until ten til 8:00. So we get there and she would not let me carry anything and she walked about 10 feet in front of me like she was walking in a marathon, we get to the front door and I ask her to turn around and let me get a picture and I get"Momma, come on!!!" We get to her class unload the backpack and have to sharpen a pencil with the cool pencil sharpener hanging on the wall, to which this afternoon when I saw her she told me that the pencil that we sharpened didn't work. I still haven't figured out what didn't work about a #2 pencil but you know.... what do I know! I stayed until the annoucements where completed and until after the pledge of allegiance and moment of silence. And yes, they still do the pledge of allegiance...THANK GOD! Mom picked her up at noon and I went over and had lunch with them. She told us that they got to go on a tour of the school, they went to the Principal's office, "He has a camera on his computer and he can see everywhere in the WHOLE school!", then they went to the cafeteria and the gym and then to the "book center". I asked her the book center? she said, "Yeah they have tons of books in there and some teachers are there too" I said do you mean the library? She said, "YEAH, the library and there was a little girl that I had to help keep in line, I don't think she had ever walked in a line before." She also ate lunch in the cafeteria today and got to see a lot of her friends in there and got to drink "chocolate milk". At the end of the day she received her blue penny, which means she was good and that her horse didn't get moved to the barn!!!
It is just so hard to believe that the "baby" chapter of her life is complete, it seems just like yesterday.

And the kindergarten teacher is.....

MRS. BEAN......

We went to open house tonight and man I wanted to cry. I just can not believe it is already time for her to start school! But the big smile on Kaylee's face and then when she said, "Momma is this really MY desk at big school?", I couldn't help but smile back and reasure myself that she is more than ready for school. She recieved her agenda tonight and she thinks that is the coolest thing ever, and oh yeah....kindergartners now get to check out libary books and "bring them home for a whole week!" Now that is exciting, I don't remember getting to check out libary books until like the 4th or 5th grade, times have really changed! Mrs. Bean told us that they would start learning to read around November....WOW!!!!! Can you imagine Kaylee reading, I guess we better stop spelling things that we don't want her to hear now, couple of more months and she will be telling us what we are spelling. So, Monday is the big day, check back to see how it went. Please keep me in your prayers, Lord knows I will need it I will probably cry all day long!! Please leave me some comments as to how you handled your childs first day of school, I would love to hear your stories.

Our week started off with Kaylee going to Shelbyville soccer, Monday thru Friday for four hours everyday. I took off from work Thursday and Friday to spend time with Miss Kaylee before she starts school, Friday afternoon we decided to take a trip to Chattanooga. Our first stop was Ruby Falls Friday evening. I had been before but Kris and of course Kaylee had never seen it. It was so pretty going through the cave and then seeing the falls and wondering what it might have been like crawling through that cave and then finding the amazing falls. Kaylee was kind of nervous when we started but then she decided it was really neat. From there we went and got a hotel room and then went downtown to eat and let Kaylee walk down the "water steps". We ate at Big River Grill and then headed back to the hotel to call it a night. Saturday morning we woke up to a rain storm and was kind off bummed because pretty much everything we wanted to do was outside, we finally decided to get on up, get ready and prayed that the rain would hold off. Our first destination was the incline railway that pulls you atop Lookout Mountain. When we got to the top it was not that spectacular because the haze was so thick and you couldn't see anything. So we went back down the mountain and then headed up to Rock City. If you have never been to Rock City everyone should go at least once. It is such a beautiful and amazing place. We made it through "Fat Man's Squeeze" and the "Needle's Eye", Kaylee was the first to point out that she didn't have to turn sideways to walk through either of them and that her Daddy and I both did. Kaylee decided that she wanted to try to climb the rock wall of course Kris and I let her try it, thinking that there was no way she would be able to do it, boy did she fool us! That little turkey climbed all the way to the top like she was a pro and had done that a million times. There was a lady setting beside us and her son was climbing on the other side and she was watching Kaylee in aw that it was her first time, she could not believe how she just scurried up the side of that rock. After that we had to go get Dippin Dots and water and take a break. After going through Fairyland caverns we made our way to the end of the enchanted trail and into the gift shop. Nana gave Kaylee $10 to spend on Fri. before we left so that money was burning a hole in her pocket. She purchased a bag full of gem stones ("to remember her trip by") and a cup, and oh yes....rock candy on a stick!!! Kris says that is the one thing that he remembered so much about his first trip to rock city...imagine that!! We left there and went back to downtown to the Creative Discovery Museum.....Kaylee had a blast there!!! She was running around everywhere, she absolutely loved all the hands on stuff. We finally had to tell her they were about to close just to get her out of there. On our way back to the car we took a little detour to Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop. That was just icing on the cake to a hot humid day!!! From there we headed back to Shelbyville and before we even got on the interstate Kaylee was already asleep in the back seat!!! Today we got up got ready and went to Frankin for a birthday party at Snip It's, a hair salon for kids. It was the neatest thing, all of the girls got their hair and nails done, made a craft and then got to dress up and walk down the red carpet. Kaylee really enjoyed herself. So as you can see we had a very busy week. Just a week and a half until school starts! If you would like to see more pictures of our trip, click on the "more photos of the Adams'" link to the left.

HAPPY 33RD BIRTHDAY TO KRIS!!

That is right....Kris is 33!! To celebrate his birthday, Marie (Kris' Mom) took us to Red Lobster on Sunday for lunch. We only go there once a year because I can NOT stand sea food, so once a year I make an exception, because it is, after all, his day. Then last night my Mom cooked him his favorite dinner, meatloaf, fried okra, fresh corn and mashed potatoes. YUM YUM!!! Then bless his heart, he had to spend the evening by himself tonight because I had a meeting in Franklin and Kaylee is spending the night with my Mom. Actually, I think he has kind of enjoyed the peace and quite and as everyone knows Kris is a huge movie buff and every Tuesday he rents all new releases, so he has been watching movies with the volume as loud as he wants. So I guess he has had a pretty good birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Check out my Slide Show!

Summer Time!

With only four weeks left of summer until Miss Kaylee starts "big school" she has really been enjoying herself. Between softball and swimming, I think she has had a great summer so far. One week from today will be her last day at Barnyard Kids, and then she will spend the next two weeks with her Nana. She will be attending the Shelbyville soccer camp and yes of course, swimming!! It is so hard to beleive that she is leaving Barnyard, in one way I'm sad and then in another I am so happy for her because she is so excited about starting school & also what a huge savings for us. Whewwhoooo!!!!! Surely kindergarten doesn't cost that much, right???
